Both parents and teachers are guilty of being nervous about the conferences that bear their names and bring the two parties together bi-annually. While parents wonder if everything is OK with their student, teachers think, "How do I say what's happening with their student?" However, this meeting of the minds doesn't have to be and shouldn't be intimidating. Rather, conferences are an excellent opportunity to become a team to support the student while communicating performance and discussing improvements.

According to the Washington Post, a staggering 50% of teachers quit the profession within five years, and Christian schools are certainly not immune to this issue. Yet, even more disappointing than those numbers are the reasons for their departures.

While money is often considered to be the most apparent, it's a false assumption. A National Center for Education Statistics survey of over 8,000 teachers cited dissatisfaction with administrative support and workplace conditions as the top two reasons for leaving teaching.

"To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven" (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

As Christians, we know the Lord governs all, and we approach each day with confidence that no matter what happens in the world, He will take care of us. This reassurance is no more apparent and glorious than in the display of the changing seasons.

A perfect picture of God's never-ending love, every year we transition between the seasons of winter and spring. Every spring that changes from snow and ice to the green grass and budding trees is a reminder of God's sovereign rule over our lives. It's so easy to take the beauty of life each spring for granted, but each season is a new gift to us that fulfills God's promise....
