The 2009 Switched-On Schoolhouse® application for Christian schools is scheduled to be released in early summer, and once again, the development team at Alpha Omega Publications® outshined their previous accomplishments. Listed below are a few of the new and exciting features of Switched-On Schoolhouse 2009.

    1. A brand-new homepage theme known as MiSOS allows for individual customization for both the teacher and student applications. Plus, the lesson plan, assignment screen, message center, and resource tools like the calculator, dictionary, and periodic table can be opened with a single click.

    2. A keyboard shortcut for grading will "save and exit" in one step after a student's grade is entered.

    3. You can automatically block completed tests at the school level, class level, or the student's subject level.

    4. A handy new Daily Work Report displays assignments that students worked on during a selected date range.

    5. Notepad messages sent by the teacher will automatically be addressed directly to the student. (You still have the ability to change the recipient).

    6. We've made it easier for students to identify active assignments. Links in the student application are blue for active assignments and gray for inactive assignments. We've also added a reminder to double-click the icon to open an assignment.

    7. We simplified and clarified the exclude-a-day process when setting up your calendar and redesigned the window you use to perform that function.

    8. The Term and Calendar screens have been modified and also include new instructional text.

    9. The Lesson Plan displays new assignment icons, so students know if an assignment is a lesson, project, quiz, or test.

    10. We've added the ability for a teacher to easily assign a grade of zero to any student assignment.
