On July 1, 2009, eSchool News presented a study titled "Students Want More Online Learning." However, this study stated the concern that supply was not meeting the demand for online learning. In fact, "according to the report, more than 40 percent of sixth through 12th graders have researched or demonstrated interest in taking a course online, but only 10 percent have actually taken an online course through their school."

Students view online learning as an opportunity to gain control of their learning. Junior high and high school students are taking online courses to earn college credit, while elementary students are taking online courses to get extra help in subjects.

Education as we know it is changing because technology is changing. Online classes allow students more freedom. Students no longer have restrictions on their time, and they can now move at their own pace instead of the allotted time given for a class period. The teacher's role is also changing. Instead of a lecture, the teacher is now asked to be a facilitator and a guide.

A number of states are recognizing this demand for online learning and are passing laws to promote online learning. Florida passed a law requiring school districts to provide online learning opportunities. In addition, Michigan and, most recently, Alabama have mandated that every student must take an online course before graduation.

What does all this mean for your Christian school? For those of you who have already partnered with Alpha Omega Publications®, you know that we are on the cutting edge of technology. We are humbled to be working alongside you to reach more students for the glory of God. Jesus commands us in Matthew 28:19-20 to make disciples of all nations: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." With online classes, you can extend the four walls of your ministry to reach out to students from all over the world and give them a chance not only to succeed at their studies, but also to develop a Christian worldview.

For those of you who have not yet partnered with us, Alpha Omega Publications has succeeded in computerized learning since the mid-1990s, and we would love to team up with your ministry to provide a quality online Christian education for your students.
