Technology is changing the face of education. No longer is content delivery and instruction dependent upon a teacher in a classroom. Content delivery and instruction are now available 24/7, anytime, anyplace. Likewise, teachers no longer have to use outdated textbooks which are updated and reprinted often every five years. Welcome to the Technology Age where information is unlimited and at your fingertips!

Alpha Omega Publications supports the Christian school market by continuing to update and develop digital curriculum all year long. Our team of developers continually upgrades content. Switched-On Online is an organic program where additions and changes occur weekly. Users have access to the new content within 24 hours automatically. Online technology is truly changing the face of education.

Users of Switched-On Schoolhouse, Alpha Omega's application-based LAN program (self-hosted on a local network) must download and install the curriculum revisions from AOP Schools website. If you can't remember which, if any, updates have been installed, you can easily check just by following these steps:

• From the home page, find the Classroom section.

• Choose Curriculum Setup.

Expand the + for the version of your curriculum.

• Double-click on the first folder titled "Revisions 2009" (your revision year). The revisions will be listed by subject, unit and assignment and identified by the revision number i.e. (R1) or (R2).

The Update Service within Schoolhouse will automatically check for updates on a monthly basis. Available updates will be identified and the link embedded for you to go directly to the support website. The curriculum revisions are installed from the Schoolhouse Teacher Application.

STEP 1:

When updates are available, when logging in to the Teacher Application, the Update Service will identify the available curriculum revisions and provide the link which will take you directly to the Support website.

You may also manually run the updates by choosing:

• Classroom

• Check for Updates

If you wish to locate the currently available curriculum revisions at this time, just

.

If you have not signed up for a log-in, do so now. When the technical support page opens, choose Curriculum Updates and Patches found in Step 1 on the page.

STEP 2:

Carefully look for the revisions for the version of Schoolhouse you are currently using. Start by clicking on the earliest revision. Revisions must be installed in order. They are not cumulative.

STEP 3:

Double-clicking on the link will provide the choice to save the file.

Dependent upon which browser you are using (Firefox is recommended), the file probably will be saved to your Download File (which is the default); however, it can be opened directly from the download screen as shown below.

STEP 4:

Double-click on the Revision Download and choose Run.

The file is downloaded in a compressed zipped folder and must be unzipped via an unzip or extraction software. Winzip is an excellent tool. Your operating system may have a built-in extraction tool as well.

STEP 5:

Choose Unzip. The default location where it will be unzipped is C:/Revisions. You may choose to change the location by choosing the Browse button. Normally, the root C: drive is the easiest, however.

STEP 6:

When the files are extracted successfully, choose OK.

STEP 7:

Log in to the Teacher Application:

• Choose Classroom.

• Choose Curriculum Setup.

• Choose Install from the bottom of the page.

STEP 8:

Browse to the C: Drive and open the Revision folder and subfolders until you reach the .sosd file. Choose okay. You have now successfully applied your first curriculum revision!

Continuing to monitor the availability of the curriculum revisions on the AOP website will assure that your students have access to the most current curriculum.
