Alpha Omega Publications (AOP) established Alpha Omega Academy in 1992 as an additional service to those families who wanted their children to learn at home but enjoyed the teaching and support of an educational institution. Initially, a mail correspondence program servicing grades K-8 and using the LIFEPAC® work text curriculum was created. Grades 9-12 were added later.
In 1998, one year after introducing Switched-On Schoolhouse®, a computer-based multimedia curriculum for students in grades 3-12, AOP created Alpha Omega Academy Online to allow students the benefits of a fully online academy providing rigor, support services, and academic enrichment via the web.
After operating independently for several years, these two academy programs were integrated into one distance education school, enrolling students with their choice of either LIFEPAC, SOS curriculum, or a combination of both.
In January of 2004, the academy achieved a milestone, achieving accreditation. AOA is accredited through AdvancED, the parent organization of The North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) and the Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA), and is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). These organizations bring together educators worldwide who support the quality academic standards required by colleges and universities.
With its proven track record, AOA has enrolled thousands of students in the United States and overseas. The academy provides a flexible yet structured program, customized to meet the needs of each student and to work with Christian schools to expand their educational programs.
