Bring Learning to Life
A hands-on curriculum teachers love, Horizons consists of colorful workbooks that ground students in math and reading fundamentals. Fast-paced and spiral-based, this teacher-led curriculum introduces children to new concepts with engaging lessons that are easy to teach and fun to learn.
Effective Spiral Learning
Horizons Language Arts and Math use a spiral learning method that helps students master concepts through a natural process of introduction, review, and reinforcement. As students are introduced to new concepts and review material from previous lessons, they stay excited about learning while growing academically.
In-Depth Teacher’s Guides
Step-by-step lesson plans in Horizons teacher’s guides minimize preparation time and provide more than just answer keys. Fool-proof teaching tips, defined lesson goals, activity suggestions, recommended material lists, and additional review sheets allow teachers to easily plan and provide structure to each lesson.
Higher Reasoning Abilities
Analytical reasoning skills are used in making daily decisions. Beginning with the introduction of each concept, Horizons teaches these thinking skills to help students gain a complete understanding of the concept. Students begin to reason from the principles taught in Horizons lessons and apply them to real-life situations.
Horizons courses support a Christian worldview that complements teachers in their biblical teaching. Several of the courses integrate scripture verses directly into the lessons. For example, Horizons Preschool uniquely uses the Bible to present a Christian worldview through all academic studies.
Increased Student Engagement
Engaging lessons and a variety of activities make learning fun, while complete teacher materials make it easy to ensure student progress. Since teacher/student interaction is an integral part of this program, both the teacher and student materials are necessary for a comprehensive exposure to concepts.
Expectations for student performance and progress are given for each lesson. Should a student fall behind, diagnosis and remedy are easy accomplished.
Helpful Teaching Tips
Each teacher’s guide includes tips to enhance the teaching process and provide teachers with useful information that helps students master concepts.
Extra worksheets can be reproduced for students who demonstrate strong aptitude or who could use additional work to provide a boost in confidence.
